My son has CP, global developmental delays, and sensory issue but he has adapted very well to overcome many of his physical shortcomings. But I often get from family and strangers alike “he seems normal”, “ there’s nothing wrong with him, they’re just trying to label him” or worse they keep asking him to do things they know he can’t do yet because other 3-year-olds can. I try to be patient and explain things but my patience only goes so far. With family I try to give them information to read to help them better understand him.
This post was spot on and having a child with an invisible disability creates even more issues when it comes to how people interact with them and you as a parent.
